Crack sealing prevents those first small cracks in asphalt from spreading across the surface and deepening to lower levels. When the cracks deepen, water seeps downward and structurally undermines the base and sub-base. This generates a much larger, more expensive problem than the small cracks posed initially.
Proper attention to cracks in their early stages will prevent problems from spreading, delay costly repairs, and may potentially double the life of the pavement.
